As part of our Year 12 weekly Enrichment Programme, Mossbourne Sixth Form has worked with political Literacy charity Shout Out UK, who have delivered a Political Literacy course to our Sixth Form students. Shout Out UK are also the secretariat for the newly formed All Party Parliamentary Group on Political Literacy. This is a group of parliamentarians from across the political spectrum, and from both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, which is seeking to increase and improve the provision of political literacy education in the national curriculum for secondary schools so that young people can become informed and active citizens in our democracy. More info about the APPG can be found here: https://www.shoutoutuk.org/appg-on-political-literacy/. Jack Fenwick, a journalist from the BBC approached Shout Out UK and Mossbourne and asked to speak to some young people about their experiences of learning and engaging with politics. They spoke with 3 of our Year 13 students, (Lisandr Qose , Goldinne Opoku-Agyemann and Zeynep Celik Kocak) in a focus group and the interview was aired on BBC Radio 4’s Westminster hour on 31st of January (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000rv8b) along with an article which you can read here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55862548
