Mossbourne Community Academy
As you are aware, the Prime Minister announced on Monday 4th January that secondary schools in England will be closed for all pupils until mid-February. Although this is desperately disappointing, the wellbeing, health and safety of our community must be a non-negotiable priority. We anticipate more announcements in the coming weeks and will, of course, communicate with you when details are confirmed.
Pupils who are currently at home have been given work and should use their time productively during the days they would normally have been learning at the academy. Please log in to Show My Homework HERE to access the work your child must complete; it is essential that all work is completed so they do not fall behind, academically, during the period of closure. Please also be aware that the academy reception is open daily from 08:45 – 15:15 so please do not hesitate to telephone us should you have any concerns or need support with home learning, safeguarding or any other matter pertaining to your child’s learning or welfare.
Please also be sure that you are monitoring your child’s use of online resources as it is especially important that we safeguard children at a time when their use of online resources has increased exponentially. The DfE have added a section on keeping children safe online in its current guidance. It provides links to online resources that will help support parents and carers; full details can be found in the ‘Online Safety’ section of the full guidance for parents and carers on the closure of educational settings which can be found here. In the guidance there is also a section entitled; ‘Mental Health and Wellbeing’ which includes online resources available to help you during this difficult time.
The staff and pupils of Mossbourne Community Academy offer immeasurable thanks to all key workers including retail workers, transport providers and NHS auxiliary staff, doctors, cleaners, paramedics and nurses who are going above and beyond to keep us all safe and healthy during this time of worry and turmoil.
A special salute to the many Mossbourne alumni who have entered medical professions and stand shoulder to shoulder with NHS colleagues. We are proud of you beyond words – you are giving back more than we ever imagined possible.
Please be assured that we are committed to ensuring that we do all within our power to reduce the impact of the closure on pupil learning and attainment and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support during this difficult time.
Miss R Warren, Principal
